Holidays & Eating Right

I don’t know if it’s just me or if eating healthy on the holiday is a struggle. I have a really hard time on a regular day but being in the South, Memorial Day means barbecue and diabetic shock-inducing sno-cones (mouth watering just thinking about it). Anyway I hope that I’m able to make it and have enough will-power to sustain my new lifestyle. I know that it takes time and determination but maybe if I had some results it might be easier for me to pull through. I’ll just try not to go towards the food table and sit outside with the children,  you know, “out of sight, out of mind.”


Overnight Oats…Yay

So with my new journey into clean eating and after reading many different blogs, websites and IG posts I have decided to try Overnight Oats. I’ve researched, googled and asked many questions so I would know what to do. At first I was under the assumption that you just use regular oatmeal, some milk and some sugar but that is not clean eating. So I revamped my shopping list and bought this:


In my small bowls I tried my best to combine equal parts of everything but I think I used too much of the greek yogurt or it just has an overbearing smell to it. Anyway this is what it looks like after being in the refrigerator overnight. It actually tastes pretty good, to sweeten it I used some extra dark brown sugar. I made two bowls because I wanted to make sure I would eat it, one with more yogurt than the other because personally I wasn’t impressed with the smell of it. Anyway so, this is the finished product…

brown sugar ono Since I have never really been a fan of oatmeal, no matter the form I was pleasantly surprised that this was pretty good. I’m not too sure that I will be adding fruit or things of that nature to it but the brown sugar suits me just fine. The thing that bothers me though is all of the backlash I seem to get from not eating the same way as my co-workers. When we have potluck and everyone brings something good to the table (good in their eyes), they always have snide remarks for me, such as, “We’re gonna go out back and pick you some twigs off the trees for you to eat.” It’s not really that big of a deal but a little respect for my difference in opinion would be nice.

Anyhow I have already started working on my next post, and I hope to get it to you guys in the next few days. I like to be able to be well-rounded in the things that I post and also be able to have evidence or a rebuttal to back-up or dispute what I say. To Avocado or Not to Avocado


Eating clean is new to me and I find it veerry hard to keep up with. I think my main problem is boredom and cravings, I am a closet chocolate freak. Anywho, I would like to explore the world of Avocado’s. I think from what I have read is that they would be an interesting substitute for a multitude of different foods. My main interest though is to broaden my palette and keep it entertained so that I won’t stray from my plan of clean eating.Also to use them  to satisfy my cravings for sandwiches and things of the sort. You know like a mayo or something. I had a bad experience with it once before (not important) so I’m kind of hesitant to try it but I’m willing to give it a shot. I tried doing some research so that I could see a good way to pick them and different ways to make them but I’m leery about spending my money when I really don’t know what to expect. I did find out that they are way up there in vitamins and nutrients. Peep the chart below:


According to the avocado has a nutrient profile that includes nearly 20 vitamins and minerals; beneficial plant compounds, including 81 micrograms of the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin per serving; and “good” fats that help the body better absorb fat-soluble nutrients from foods they are eaten with, there are so many reasons to enjoy avocados. In a quest to learn more, the Hass Avocado Board (HAB) is funding research to potentially discover additional benefits of eating this fruit. 

With this being my first complete week of clean eating I’m going to try and get my shopping and food prep done early so there is less room for error. Even though I am excited I’m also a skinflint and spending money and changing my mind is scarier than anything I’ve ever experienced in my life. I wish I had someone to make me a list for beginners, so that I will know what to get, Oh well, I guess I’ll just wing it. Who I Be…

This is me, this is who I am and I am sure a lot of people won’t like me or think that I’m boring but right now life is pretty much in disarray (oh did I spell that right, whatever). Anyway, I’m 35yo, I have 3 children and I’m in love. All 3 of these present problems for me most of the time but that is neither here nor there at the moment. Im currently trying to lose about a GA-JILLION pounds so I’m gonna focus alot on my troubles with that and my journey with clean eating (OMG). Sooooo, here we go.
